Woodcock Primary Summer Camp, School Club & Community Outreach Day

Joining with Mr. Devlyn Stubbs and Mr. Daniel Cinque at this years Summer Camp from July 7th - 14th, Ms. Babara Stubbs founder of Stubsdale Dog Training; Computer Programmer, Dog Trainer and Music Instructor brought her talents to Woodcock Primary. The camp focused on dog training, yoga, music and sports. Some highlights included learning how to care for  our community adoptee Rebel, a visit from the Bahamas Humane Society to administer ‘Rebels first round of vaccines, and a field trip to the historic Clifton Heritage National Park.

During the 2013/2014 school year, students from Woodcock Primary participated in Stubsdales dog training club which featured Dog Training & Care lessons, field trips to The Bahamas Humane Society, The Ministry of Agriculture, and The Bain Town Community Outreach Day sponsored by Alpo Dog Food. During the walk about students visited members of the Bain Town community to donate dog food supplies courtesy of Alpo Dog Food, and information sheets titled, Just Got A Pup Now What? prepared courtesy of Stubsdale Dog Care Center. As we grow, this coming year into the next (2014/2015), we are scheduled introduce new initiatives encouraging entrepreneurship, and career preparedness. Some of these activities include; Junkanoo designed dog leashes, dog show & obedience trials, and the launch of the Bahamas Youth Dog Agility Team.

Great successes has been made with spay & neuter programs, and we congratulate the effort. In support, our focus is on youth education. Through the seemingly unlikely partnering of Dog Training and Yoga we have embarked on a unique approach at helping to solve the Potcake dilemma, and some of our own personal issues. We realize that by developing the person, the relationship with their dog, and the community as a whole will be improved. Animal cruelty has proven to be a precursor to violence toward humans. By the time a person is an adult they have long since formed their fundamental beliefs, and understandings that will shape their experiences in life. We connect with, and consult the youth as we build a better nation, at a stage in their development when they are more receptive, more likely to practice concepts such as, yard enclosures, stopping animal cruelty, compassion, discipline, and social responsibility. We thank our collaborators and sponsors including; The Ministry of Youth, Youths in Yoga, Space 2 Create, Briland Animal Rescue Association, Purina Alpo, and Caribbean Bottling Co Bahamas Ltd.
